Do I need a new psu to take full advantage of my new build?

I was planning on using my old case and psu, but now I'm having doubts. A 500w psu came with my raidmax smilodon when I bought it in 2009. Couldn't find info on it anywhere online but on the power supply it says +3.3V@28A, +5V@38A, +12V@22A, +5VSB@2.0A, -12V@0.8A, & -5V@0.5A.

I don't plan on doing any overclocking with my build due to restrictions with my MOBO. Can my psu handle my new build (as listed below)? Would also appreciate any thoughts on my current psu as I don't know how to comprehend the stats I listed above.

My Build Specs
CPU: AMD FX-8350

MOBO: MSI 990FXA-GD65V2

RAM: G.SKILL Sniper Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133

SSD: Intel 530 Series SSDSC2BW120A4K5 2.5" 120GB SATA III

Video Card: SAPPHIRE DUAL-X 100373-2L Radeon R9 280 3GB 384-Bit

Optical: DVD-RW

Thanks in advance for you time and consideration.

I wouldn't risk it. Click on the PSU tier list link in my sig and you will see that the PSU is a tier five and is not recommended for any systems.

A quality PSU such as an XFX 550W or OCZ ZT 550W (if you want fully modular) would be much better.

For a system using a single Radeon R9 280 graphics card AMD specifies a minimum of a 500 Watt or greater system power supply. The power supply should also have a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 35 Amps or greater and have at least two 75W 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors. (Minimum system power requirement based on a PC configured with an Intel Core i7 3.2GHz 130 Watt TDP processor.)

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Sufficient Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) is the most critical factor.
