So I just want to get this out of the way, this build is for gaming only. I will not be doing any video editing or rendering at all. I know this is build is a bit overkill for the processes that I will be doing but I just want to be able to game on all of the newest games games with 60 fps and above at 1440p. I don't really know how demanding it is to play at 1440p at 60 fps so thats why I created this overkill build. Do I need that strong of a processor and graphics card?
Thanks in advance

It is overkill, but a great, well-balanced build.

This would serve you just as well at those settings, for almost $600 less.

1. The CPU was totally overkill. It could be argued you don't even need the 6600k,that maybe the 6500 or base 6600 would serve you fine. I'd suggest the 6600K to allow a bit of overclocking in future.

2. Motherboard, nothing wrong with the board you selected, but you can get the same functionality for less

3. The SSD, there's very, very minimal gains going with the 'Pro' series. The standard 850 EVO will do the job nicely.

4. The HDD.....I was just making the point of it being cheaper. Nothing wrong with the Blue.

5. R9 390X, somewhat comparable to a 980 (non-TI), still more than adequate for 1440p and the additional VRAM will may be more useful in the medium-term.

6. Totally personal preference on the case, so I didn't touch it. There are various alternatives for less money than the Enthoo Pro, but it's a nice case.

7. Unless you strictly want fully-modular, the 750W SuperNOVA B2 (bronze) will serve the same purpose. A quality unit, semi-modular (but only the cables you'd be using anyway are non-modular, so it's a non argument to me). Significantly cheaper.
