Do I need a PCIe SSD?

I plan on buying an SSD to speed up my system a little. I decided to go for 500 GB of storage to be on the safe side and not having to deal with my drive getting full (although I will store my games, videos, fotos etc on my HDD)
Now SATAIII SSDs can run with a speed of 570-600 MB/s. Is there any gain that I would get from having an even faster SSD? I plan on using my device for high-end-gaming and office purposes.

Is it a good idea to buy a PCIe SSD or does that huge price gap not justify the few gain in perfomance?

Is it worth the additional cost? My opinion is...not at the moment. But once prices drop on the 950 Pro then yes, definitely worth it.

ssd speed up read/write as you already know. this speeds up things like system startup, program access, file access/transfer, and in the case of gaming it usually means a faster boot and faster load screens. the only game i've seen where it can help actual fps performance is arkham knight, but thats because the game is terribly unoptimized.

in my opinion there price jump to a pcie ssd is only justified for professional use where you need sustained high speed access to large files like video editing. for gaming, i would just get yourself a good standard 2.5" ssd.

Gonna agree - the SATA SSDs right now are more than sufficient for your daily desktop usage. Only servers running huge dBase transaction numbers really need the speedup from SATA to PCIe. The other spot where they do come in handy is in the form factor size in thin Ultrabooks or tablets.
