Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-A320M-HD2
CPU: AMD Ryzen 1300X

Question: Do I need a separate / dedicated GPU for even the basic display on GIGABYTE GA-A320M-HD2 + Ryzen 1300?

I read in a product's Q&A that someone answered affirming the need to purchase a dedicated GPU for even basic display.

If yes, then why does it have HDMI and VGA ports?

Solution
affirmative the ryzen chips do not have a GPU built in to them, the new APU on the AM4 platform do. this is AMD being cool not forcing a different platform on us, one motherboard both options.
the a12 APU like this will have a GPU built in and when paired with that motherboard will power the ports
http://www.amd.com/en/products/apu/7th-gen-a12-9800-apu
the A12 gets it name from the core count, 4 CPU's and 8 GPU cores on one die. 12 total processing cores.

as you have ryzen you will need a GPU that will plug into the PCIe slot

Can any really cheap GPU do the job of basic display for things like MS Excel / Photoshop (very basic photo editing) ?
