Do I need a sound card?

I am making a pc with this mother board Asus M5A78L-M LX PLUS
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LM_LX_PLUS/

I want to know if I would need a sound card for the razer kraken 7.1 gaming headset or if the mother board could run 7.1 surround sound

That is a USB headset, so you don't need an audio card to enjoy it's 7.1 surround!!

Usb headsets don't use a sound card, they have their own sound card included in the usb connector, so thats why you don't need a sound card, even if you buy the best and most expensive sound card, if you plug a usb headset you won't take advantage of it because you will be using the usb connector, if you want to get the sound from a dedicated sound card you need to use the analog connector, otherwise you won't.

sound cards really and i mean really arent neccesary unless you need more ports than on the motherboard. yeah since its usb it can plug into your case usb port
