Do I need a special HDMI plug to power my monitor?

Hi, I'm going to be using the Asus VG248QE 144Hz 24.0" Monitor and I was wondering if any hdmi plug would do or if I need some special gold plated one.

I was also wondering what the plug that connects the case to the wall for power is called.

That depends. It does accept HDMI, DisplayPort and Dual DVI-D. The cable that you will need is a DsiplayPort cable to be able to use it effectively. The 3-d and 144Hz require a quality fast DisplayPort cable (and the mid to high end graphics card.

I'm using the msi gtx 970, however, it also has built in speakers, so shouldn't I use hdmi?

I have this monitor. Be prepared to turn the brightness down to get good colors. It is by far the brightest monitor I've seen. At 100% it will tend to cause colors to look washed out. I think mine is around 30 -35%
Also there is a color profile available online.

I have this monitor. Be prepared to turn the brightness down to get good colors. It is by far the brightest monitor I've seen. At 100% it will tend to cause colors to look washed out. I think mine is around 30 -35%
Also there is a color profile available online.

I'm guessing you use the display port?

It has some 144Hz competition now, but it is still a very good monitor. If you read this section ,you will see it mention often.
