I have just brought a Condenser Mic and Phantom power and this will be the setup:

Condenser Mic connected to Phantom Power through XLR cable, and then from the Phantom Box, i will use XLR to 3.5mm jack. I would like to know, is it fine for me to plug the 3.5mm straight into the pc and it will work fine or do i need to buy anther piece of hardware? like a 3.5mm to USB soundcard? or will it work fine...
Thanks

Should be fine.

You only need a USB sound card for this application if you need to ADD a line-in to a computer without one.

The first thing to note is if your condenser mic is compatible with the 3.5mm cable you intend to use to convert the condenser mic to a 3.5mm connection. On that note, you should mention the make and model of the mic and the phantom power source. Mind sharing your full system's specs as well as your OS as well as the rest of your audio equipment...?

Next up, you could use it off the onboard sound card on your system, provided you do have an onboard sound solution.

Third, USB driven sound cards aren't a good solution, if you must buy a sound card, you should buy a dedicated sound card. it will help you two fold in the future when you're going into better productions.

My system specs:

CPU - i3 6100
GPU - 1050Ti
OS: Windows 10
MOBO - MSI H110M - PRO D
Headset currently using - Corsair HS40

Microphone i am buying - Neewer NW-700
Phantom Power - Neewer 48V phantom power

hope this helps
