Do i need all the same ethernet cables for a network threw the wall

just built a house and had one data point put in the computer room and it goes to the wall in the lounge to connect my ps3 threw to my 4 port router but for some reason ps3 wont connect can i use any ethernet cable? any ideas

It's wired incorrectly? Did you try connecting a computer?
