Do I need an anti static strap while building?

It is never a BAD idea. Clothes, and other items can create static electricity. No carpet required. Is your weather cool and dry right now? Is your indoor humidity low < 40% ? If so, then a wrist strap is probably a good idea. Low humidity is a bigger contributer than most anything else.

ima pretty much build naked, so not worried about cloths, and I'm on wood floor, yes weather is cool and dry, but idk my humidity

if you dont want to buy one then make one. find alagator clip or large paper clip. crimp or connect a wire to it. connect the clip to the computer case/metal part of the power supply. on the other end of the wire connect it to set of keys with a metal ring. before you pick up any parts pick up the keys and tuch the case/power supply. if you built up any static charge you see a small spark. or feel it.

oh wow

I mean its the SAFE thing to do, but realistically its not a massive issue to worry about. Ive build 5ish computers on carpet without one and i have yet to fry anything, i just try to touch something meta(case or psu)l every once in a while and i generally dont wear socks. Not wearing an anti-static wrist-strap is kinda like driving a car without airbags, youll be already unless you get unlucky (and then your screwed )

ok, also since u build like 5 pc, tell me this, how do i test the components outside the case to make sure it work if i have a liquid cooler xD?
