Do i need an audio card?

Hello everyone i'm using a z170 msi m5 gaming board and a Dell S2716DG 27-Inch TN LED Gaming monitor. I also use px27 turtle beach headset with an amp. Normally i plug the headset into the monitor outlet. This allows all the audio to come through to the headset the microphone doesn't work. I've tried each and every port on my computer, in the motherboard or in case (phanteks evolv atx). I've been told i either may need to get an adapter for the headsets wire or possibly needing to buy an audio card. Which one do i need to start voice chatting on mic with friends during online play?

Can you link the headset? What connectors does it have?
You should not be needing an audio card for this.

Are your motherboard sound drivers loaded? Should be a Realtek audio control panel.

Does the headset have a usb + a 3.5mm jack?

Would think you'd plug usb in then 3.5mm into the mic in jack (mobo manual will tell you which one).

Then right-click volume icon, (forget the tab name), set headset to default device and the mic on the onboard audio to default communications device.
