Ive currently ordered an I7-4790k which comes with a stock cooler.
Plus my case the fractal r4 has its own built in basic cooler.
Is their any point purchasing an extra one?

I think you are misunderstanding what a CPU cooler is. A CPU cooler is a heatsink with a fan attached to it that sits directly on top of your CPU. You will only have 1 of these.

Your r4 comes with a couple of case fans installed, and I'm assuming that this is what you are referring to by an extra CPU cooler. You should be just fine with the pre-installed fans.

If you plan on overclocking your CPU, I recommend buying a new CPU cooler, which you will replace your stock intel one with.

If you have any questions, just ask.
