do I need change my MotherBoard? Or my Graphic Card? Or nothing? - Need Advice

Problem:
After the last Catalyst Control Center (13.9) my 3D graphics start to crash (ATI 4890), and Windows gives me many blue screens while I was working. I did improve memory performance (RaM) , I did a clean Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bits install. That gives me a firsth solution. But now, the problem comes back again, after many hours test (more than 17), the solution was UnderClock my graphic card to new values: GPU 800Mhz and MemoryClock 960 (Original values: GPU 870 and MemoryClock 1050) Now the system is better, stable for hours. But, the rare things continues.

That happs if I run skype.

I did try for some minutes a diferent old full functional graphic card and I was without problems.

Shall I change my graphic card? or hard drive? or Motherboard is the problem? How can I know that? Thank you.

The first thing I would try is update the drivers and return it to stock settings and make sure it is seated well in the slot in your motherboard.

After that I would run atitool to see if artifacting continues. The most likely thing is that a ram chip has gone bad on your graphics card because of the way it's displaying artifacts in certain portions of the screen.

If this continues then underclocking could be a good idea, but only to the memory on your gpu and see if you can lower it a bit and see if you can get it to a range that will no longer produce these areas.

If the errors persist or you have to underclock the video ram so much that it is a serious detriment, then it looks like it's time for a new graphics card

Yea to me that has video card written all over it. Do as superfreestyleer. If it still continues try another video card if you have one.

I did it 3 times, and I did clean very well the CPU Cooler, the graphicard, and the motherboard. If I do a safe drivers uninstall I got chances to get blue screens and crash againd and again just with cpu restart. Couldnt find my old drivers (13.1) I have not copy , anyways it fails under Windows xp 32 bits, too. Normally If I got problems I go there to make some test, this time is not working.

I find ati tools , downloaded and installed, now it gives me driver uncertificated error , searching .

You don't necessarily need to use atitool. You can use anything to try and stress the gpu. You might be able to try occt. I think that has a gpu testing function

´Finally I did run AtiTools and OCCT (very nice utility by the way). AtiTools found no errors. And OCCT found no errors too, the only thing I did notice is: TMPIN0 and TMPIN0(2) too hot near 85ºC ! during OCCT test they was near 88º, that is not right, true?
And another crazy thing, I can run some 3D games with AA, high mipmap details, AnistroscopicFilter, stressing the VideoCard for hours without problems! but, If I run skype it crashes and windows freezes! What is the problem? this makes me mad !! 🙁

I had an old GeForce 6800 that had the same exact thing pretty much. Ended up being the memory on the card. Again i would see if you can get or borrow another video card from a friend or try this video card in another PC. if it still does it you know its the Video card.
