do i need cpu cooler

i am using intel core i5 2400 for 3 years i have bought msi gtx 970. while playing gta episodes from liberty city my processor's temparature reaches 78 c at 83% load. so do i need a cpu cooler?

Yes. But you should try to improve the cooler already on it. Blow the dust out of it with compressed air. If its old, replace the thermal paste between the cooler and CPU.

only reapplying thermal paste and blowing off the dust will do the job or is it better to use a cpu cooler?
and if i use a cpu cooler do i need to apply thermal paste? my processor is three years old.
