I was just introduced to something called "Corsair Vengeance Airflow" which basically looks like a fan that fits on your motherboard to cool your ram. Do I need this?

RAM I am planning on getting: 16gigs ( 2x8gigs ) Patriot 1600mhz Dual Channel DDR3 Viper 3 Memory - Black

No, there isn't. You will be fine.

No you do not need this.

Why does it exist? To extract money from people who think they DO need this.
Why do they think they need this? Marketing, and clueless friends.

Now...if you want to buy it because it looks cool, go for it.
But you do not 'need it'.

But is there a certain amount of RAM that would require me to get this, like 24 or 32 gigs? Since I'm only gonna have 16 I won't get it but it would be nice to know if in the future I get more gigs and run into this problem,
