Do I need Display Port 1.3 for DSR for my 1440p monitor?

I have a few questions on this:

Is DP 1.3 compatible w/my monitor+gpu combo? Does DSR(Dynamic Resolution Display) actually increase resolution? It seems like DSR works mostly w/eliminating jaggies/aa on my games.

I just switched my old DVI cable for a DP 1.2 and saw a change in quality, mostly when doing 4k DSR w/gta v.

Please let me know if there is anything else I need to increase it's quality and if a new DP1.3 is a good enough change over DP1.2 to warrant another cable upgrade.

I have the ACER K272HUL and it's connected via dp 1.2 to a msi gtx 970 gaming

By DSR I assume you are referring to Nvidia's Dynamic Super Resolution.

The cable your using doesnt matter as long as it can support the monitors native resolution. DSR is basically your computer rendering at a high resolution and downsampling it to the monitor res, either way the monitor is still getting a 1440p feed.

Cable quality has no impact on image quality unless your using an analog standard (which your not, that's going the way of the dodo), so I suspect the difference you saw between DVI and DP is more a placebo than anything else (unless you were using a Single-Link and not Dual Link DVI, which just doesnt have the bandwidth to support 1440p).

tldr; theres no difference
