Hello everyone,

I am building a new PC specifiacally for 4K 1440 gaming. I purchased a single Geforce GTX 980 ti. Will this gpu be sufficient for 4K gaming on it's own? Or will I have to bridge a second 980? Also, I am running a 43 inch 4k TV instead of a monitor, not sure if that makes a difference.

Yes 4k Monitor would be better, unless you can find one that has or make sure it is able to run 60hz or else you probably wont be happy at 24hz or 30 hz what most 4k tvs run. 30 fps or less.

Here's my 4k fps with single 980 ti but if you have one you should know. It's pretty decent at 4k for a single card.

At 4k I get around 40-50 in Witcher 3 with hairworks off but everything else ultra.

In project cars I get around 60 FPS at 4k all ultra

In Battlefield 4 I get 60-70 I think, I have it on vsync and its always at 60 but that's all ultra and maxed

In Crysis 3 around 40ish I think at 4k...

980ti is justs enough for 4k. i wouldnt use the 980 as its 4gb vram might limit it.
Tvs can only do 30fps 4k through hdmi.

In metro last light I get around 40-50 at 4k all ultra

In Arma 3 I get around 70 I think with some of the post processing turned off but all else ultra and 4k

EDIT: It runs 1440P really really well on all games.

Thank you, I will definately look into a 4K monitor instead of a TV. I liked the idea of a 40 inch screen, but my main concern is performance, so I will most likely take your advice and go with a 30 inch monitor.

You're welcome. They do make 4k tvs that have a refresh rate of 60 and will work with comps but there are only a few last time I looked a few months back and I'm not so sure if they are really geared for gaming so they may not work too well even though they can get the fps. Most of them are the standard 30hz and then you are limited at 30fps and 30 is not good. I think it's the display port out to tv that the tv lacks and the hdmi can't put out 60 at 4k to your tv, unless they've changed things. Something along those lines but I know they aren't as common as regular 4k tvs.

I bought a Vizio 50" 4K and it has one specific HDMI port for 4K at 60hz. If you go the TV route you need to make sure you get a HDMI 2.0 because the 1.5 will only allow 30hz transmission where as the 2.0 allows the full 60hz.
