Do i need flashdrive for updating bios using @bios tool?

I see it works on windows, but I know normally for bios you need a flashdrive but do you need one for that?

I wouldn't say "normally" ... in fact most old timers still say to never do it that way as back in the ole days, when these utilities 1st came out there were "birthing issues".. Options:

1. The Auto Update Window thingie that each vendor names differently.

2. The BIOS update / flash utility on MpBo CD / web site

3. Via USB stick using Asus Flashback or whatever you vendor calls theirs.

I use a USB stick ( download the bios to it ) unzip it....... reboot go into bio , under the update bios select the usb and that's it.

been doing this way for a few years on my 4 PC at home never had a problem

I have never had a problem with any method. But, OTOH, no need to go out and buy a USB stick if you don't have one handy. Using the Auto update utility from Windows, click Update, select the BIOS you want and it does everything automatically from there.

Also, When using Asus Flashback and, i expect, various other vendors utility, you do have to rename the BIOS files for it to be recognized ... see step 3 on link below

The utility is on the MoBo CD and can also be downloaded from their web site.

How to use it, will be explained in the MoBo manual.

If the file is .EXE, it is an executable file that needs to be run. @bios should do all that for you inside Win. You should simply have to install @bios, and let it do the work for you. You don't have to download the bios file itself when you use @bios.
