Do I need G sync?

So lately I've been thinking of getting myself a high refresh rate monitor. They're not cheap.. especially the ones with G-sync.
Thus my question, do I really need G-sync? I want the high refresh rate for games such as CSGO where I get constand 200+ FPS, but I also play games that I only get 60+ FPS in. Would not having gsync make fps below 144 stutter?

I do know about the existence of free sync, but I have an Nvidia graphics card so I wont work.

Fast sync only works as intended if your framerate is at least double that of your refresh rate. So on a 60hz monitor, you would need to achieve at least 120fps for it to work as intended with minimal input lag and minimal tearing. With a 144hz monitor you would need 288fps in your game for fast sync to work as intended.

Stutter? No. Tearing? Yes, probably.

If you get a 144Hz monitor and your FPS doesn't standup to it you will probably see screen tearing, yes. Do you really need G-Sync? No.
It's completely up to you, i'd tottaly recommend it since it makes image much much smoother as you've already probably read. If you can bare with the tearing it's not a problem, if you cannot and still want a 144Hz i'd say it's a wise choice to get a monitor with it.

The point of gsync it to make your game not stutter or tear under its refresh rate, what gsync does is allow the monitors refresh rate to change, so for example if your game is running at 88fps the monitor is running at 88hz. This eliminates tearing at or under the refresh rate of the monitor and can make sudden frame drops less noticeable. If you have a 144hz monitor and your game is running at 200fps gsync will no longer work and you could see tearing, 200 fps would be pointless on a 144hz gsync monitor as you would not be able to see 200fps and you are no longer using gsync at that frame rate.

If you had a non gsync 144hz montor and were running your game at say 90fps with no vsync, you may see some tearing but it should not stutter. If you had vsync on and were running the game at 88fps on a 144hz monitor you may see some stutter when he framerate changes drastically.

As I play csgo at 200 fps on a 60 fps screen without any kind of sync, almost 50% of the frames are teared up so that is not a problem.

What about Fast sync? Does that work at such a high refresh rate?
