Hello,
I am shopping for a monitor for my husband's Christmas present. I would like a 24" or 27" IPS monitor and am taking a liking to the new HP's recently rolled out. My question is importance of having a HDMI input. THe 27" hp 2740w does not while the 24" hp 2440w does. My husband just bought a dell XPS machine with a blue ray dvd included. He uses the machine primarily for video editing. I am no expert so am looking for advice on the importance of a HDMI input...is it a must have? Many thanks

If it has DVI, then that will most likely be the output he is going to be using when connecting to the monitor.

To me, the real magic of HDMI is the fact that it outputs both audio and video. This makes it a lot easier to hook, say, a laptop up to a TV. In your case however, this isn't a big deal as I assume he has his own speakers to use with his computer.

So, to answer your question, I'd say no. Having HDMI input shouldn't be a deal breaker. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm misguided.
