Do i need more RAM?

Cooler - Cooler Master: Hyper 212 EVO
Graphics Card - AMD Radeon Sapphire R9 270X 4GB OC edition
RAM - 2x 4GB G.Skill Ripjaw X (8GB DDR3 @ 1866)
Power Supply - 850watt EVGA SuperNOVA G2
Motherboard - GIGABYTE 970A-UD3P

I just got GTA 5 on PC and when i play it i was getting like a weird studder and i ran Open Hardware Monitor to see if anything shows up odd and when the studdering started again it said i had 0.5 GB of ram
what should i do?

yes you need more ram caus it is an open world game, or turn down the setting lets you determin how far you can see, even the fastest ssd cant keep up with the speed of ram, if it stuttering, try setting pagefile to like 200mb instead of letting windows handel it, windows is bad with ssd's it treats them like HDD' s. and even so it will force your ssd/hdd to load everything in the ram so if it still stutters then ram is not enough. i would go with 16 gb if i were you. you will not have problems AT ALL any more. 😉

if using a sumsung ssd go into magician software and make sure its set to highest performance

you also try closing everything in the bottom right corner in windows, if you have browser open, depnding which one it can use up to 2 gig of ram all on its own (chrome, firfox) open task manger and see what is eating so much ram and close those programs to..

i have the game on a 1tb 7200rpm drive
and 20gb is what my paging file is at i think

i did try that :/ i just had the game and skype running and it was always under 1 gb available.
it was odd when it was getting to about 0.8gb free the game would stutter and freeze alittle but then it would go down to 0.2gb free and it would run better

I did order 8 more gigs of ram today, and its the same ram kit as i got before

good they will work well together in that case, it was the right decision you will need it in the future as well and not only for GTA.

thank you ive been thinking about going to 16gb for a while but wasn't sure if it was worth it yet . i noticed the price had dropped and now they are on sale today one newegg
