Hi,

I have a main PC at home which I mainly use for working from home, little video design, and very little gaming, However, I do share my video's and films to my close family (which live in a different country).
Recently I ran out of space and I'm thinking of buying a new HDD, (I Do have more than 4TB of videos&photos)
If im sharing my PLEX server should I consider building a setup for NAS with a NAS operating system (I do have a spare CPU, RAM and case) ? what are the advantage of having your HDD's on NAS setup ? rather than in you PC ?

My PC Specs:

i7 9700k@5ghz
msi z390 ace
Corsair 32GB dominator
msi gtx 1080 sea hawk
Adata xpg 8200 pro 1tb NVME
corsair mp300 500gb NVME
samsung 500GB NVME
WD HDD 2TB
NZXT kraken x62
Seasonic m12 850W
NZXT H510

Thanks
Leo

Solution
A NAS is a good thing. I have one.

Unless you already have applicable parts around to slap something together, consider a prebuilt one.
QNAP or Synology.

I have a QNAP TS-453a, with approx 50TB of drives in or attached to it.
Music and movie collection. Nightly backups from all the regular house systems. Repository of all the photo/video/CAD projects.
