yes these should be pretty obvious questions but i have went down my troubleshooting list and i get the same exact crash everytime, my pc freezes and at the same time it makes this loud repetative static noise its the same crash everytime. it happens while im playing games most of the time but it does happen while im watching netflix and it has happend a few times while my pc was not in use. at first i thought it was my gpu oc not being stable so i put that back to default settings, and that didnt work so next thing i thought it was my cpu oc not being stable, put that to its default settings and the same crash still happens. all this started after i updated my bios getting the random crashes bsod's. i dont get bsod anymore. just the same crash. or could this be a simple hdd faliure? idk. im going to reseat everything move my ram over give it a good cleaning and ill see if that helps but if anyone has some insight to my problem i would be very greatful.

Yeah the update is what i was thinking but i updated my bios today and it still happens

the bios update was

Z170 PRO GAMING BIOS 3401 (Am now on latest bios update 3402)

1.Improve system stability
2.Enhance system compatibility

and my mobo is asus z170 pro gaming
gtx 1070

i just got done doing a clean up and reseating the ram/cpu. yeah only high end like x99 can revert bios. the update made my cpu oc unstable so i had to lower my oc a little but now that im on the new bios update (3402) i can run my old oc and is well idk if its stable cause idk what the issue is here i dont get bsod which is what i got when i updated to (3401) but the issue still happens. One thing i have noticed since the bios update is that my system is more responsive.

This is a good example why one should not update a bios unless it is to fix a problem that is impacting you.

Probably, you need to contact asus for support.

If you are on windows 10, there is a possibility that an update has gone wrong.
See if you can use system restore to reset back to a date when all was well.

yeah now that you mention it after i updated my bios i was getting system_service_exception bsod and fortunatly that error means that there is something wrong with a driver somewhere. that probably would have been the only problem if i was able to fix it yeah im going to contact asus my mobo is still under warrenty not even a year old
