Do I need thermal paste when building a computer?

I'm building a new computer soon and am just wondering: do I need to buy additional thermal paste?

The CPU I'm getting is an FX-8350. Does it come with heatsink & thermal paste already attached, or do I need to buy additional stuff?

Thanks :)

i would buy some extra. sometimes the cpu coolers come with thermal paste already on them and sometimes they dont, sometimes the quality paste is good such as on a h100i and sometimes the quality of the paste is crap

Thanks, that's helpful. What exactly is the advantage of buying better thermal paste? I mean, I understand that it'll keep the CPU slightly cooler, but surely AMD's own stuff is designed to do the job, right? Having the CPU a little hotter can't be that bad.

OK, I get that. I am only looking to use the PC for just under 2 years though. :/
Edit: I will be using it primarily for high-end gaming.

thermal paste isnt expensive i mean you will be fine with 12-20 dollar packet of paste. if you decide you want to overclock then invest in top notch paste unless you have a nice cpu cooler

Good, that's what I thought - so I can use the cpu (stock) without additional cooling.

I have the h100i RGB platinum, and I run a range of mildly popular Steam games like TF2 and starbound (and Minecraft, sometimes modded as hell).

Recommendations?
