Why can't you run an ethernet cable to the desktop?

Good point my internet I down stairs and pc is up stairs not sure how I'll be routing it and what are the positives of a ethernet cable

An ethernet cable direct to the router is faster, more stable, and more secure.
WiFi depends on a LOT of environmental issues. Especially going between upstairs and downstairs.
