Hey guys;
I'm, doing a new build with an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X on an Asus Tuf Gaming Plus WiFi mobo. I have been watching some YouTube vids on how to install the CPU and cooler, and seeing that there are two sockets on the cooler and two cables supplied to connect to the mobo.
I am not planning to use the RGB lighting, as my case does not have any clear panels (I chose it that way).
Are these cables used only to control the RGB lighting on the cooler, or is there some temperature and/or fan speed data being sent over the USB?
That said, the cooler fan plugs into the CPU fan header on the mobo, so I would think the mobo will control the fan speed based on CPU temp without the need for any other data.
If there is no reason other than the RGB lighting, I think I will just leave those two cables off.
Thanks for your help
