Do I need to connect my monitor through a graphics card?

I'm working on my first build, and I'm using an asus m5a97 LE R2.0 as my motherboard and eventually I'm buying an Asus GeForce GTX 660 as my graphics card. I was looking at my motherboard, and I didn't see an outlet to plug my monitor into. I was wondering if I needed to run my monitor through my graphics card, and if so how do I set up my build so that the cord runs to the outside of my case.

Yes you can connect either vior a hdmi lead or a standard pc monitor lead depending if your monitor had a hdmi connection you can use either. one second and I will check you motherboard out to!

yep you will need to connect direct from your graphics then as the motherboard has no onboard graphics. Although it does have onboard sound, so you can use the sound either from your graphics or your motherboard!

You need a graphics card for that board.

And no you don't connect it on the inside.
The installed graphics card will have plugs on the back of the PC in the expansion slots.

it does look like a nice motherboard though, motherboards with loads of onboard things arn't always the best!
