so...i no this proly a dumb question however im very new to pc building..in fact i just built my first pc a few months ago and i need to upgrade the cpu to a 4690k(should be here by friday)

currently i have a g3258 in the system and it needs a upgrade....so do i need to do anythng besides removing the cpu heatsink and taking out the cpu and putting in the new one......

like do i need to do anything in the bios b4 i use the pc again or anything else

Solution
so long as the Motherboard and BIOS support it (it should out of the box) you don't have to do anything other than slap it in. Windows may or may not complain about the change since changing the CPU can count as a major hardware change.

don't forget to reapply your heat spreader on the new CPU don't just use whatever gunk is leftover on the heatsink.
