I have a reference RX 480 8GB and am wondering if I need to enable the "Compatibility Mode" setting to prevent damage to my motherboard and PSU.
I read that AMD addressed the power consumption issue in a driver update by shifting some of the load to the 6pin PCIe power cable which now runs out of specification instead of the PCIe socket. However, I'm not sure I need to enable compatibility mode to enable the fix.
My motherboard is the ASUS Z170M plus and my PSU is the EVGA Supernova 650GS.
I'm not worried about there being a little bit of strain on the psu since it is supposedly a fairly high quality model. My motherboard however, is not the most expensive and is what I'm most worried about.
Thanks in advance for any answers.
