Do I need to format my HDD after installing my SSD?

I'm buying a 250GB SSD and was wondering if I needed to format my HDD as it has Windows in it. There is no reason to keep Windows on my HDD obviously, but I was wondering if there is any danger connecting an HDD with Windows to an already-running-windows SSD. I'm afraid all the junk from my HDD's Windows will start loading up (registry files, auto start programs and fuck it up) Sorry if this sounds silly, my first time with SSDs.

Solution

hey,

- install ssd in your rig
- disconnect your HDD ( hardware )
- go to bios.
- There you can install your windows and since your SSD is your only connected drive it will install on that.
- When you are finished make sure to check your boot-order in your bios settings. It should boot from SSD first...

When that works just reconnect and reformat your HDD.

Hope this helps
