I am using intel xtu to under volt my 8700. do I need to have it running to keep the changes. ps I cant change it in the bois because its not a k chip.
Are you sure you can't change voltage in the BIOS? I think all that having a non-K chip means is you can't increase the frequency multiplier.
no I cant full context its a alienware aurora r7 and what ever motherboard/ custum bios isnt letting me get at the overclocking stuff. not a big deal since I have a non k chip, but their voltage is set too high at 1.5. using intel xtu I lowered it to 1.13 and the chip is running much cooler. which is why I asked if I need to keep it running to keep the changes in effect.
Just use a monitoring program to look at Vcore. Then you can see it reverts back to normal after you exit XTU and/or reboot, or if it retains the changes you made.
