Do I need to install SATA drivers if things are running?

If every thing is working ok in the device manager then u don't need to install the manufacturers drivers. The drivers built into windows are often good enough. You wil want to download the most current drivers for the video card though.

Hi jacob, @Bucknutty is right, the default windows drivers are usually OK for fresh installs, but quite often do NOT include the latest releases from the manufacturer.

Normally when doing a fresh install of Windows, i would always install all of the motherboard drivers from the manufacturer to ensure maximum compatibility and operation of the hardware included on motherboard.

This is just GOOD PRACTICE; the windows drivers while being good enough, and being from the manufacturer are really only to get the system up and running, you should always install all drivers relevant to the hardware included on the motherboard to take advantage of any special features and optimizations that the default windows drivers may not give.

So to conclude : @ Bucknutty is correct, " the drivers built into windows are often good enough"; but they do not give you maximum compatibility with all the hardware and features built into your motherboard.

Good practice - ALWAYS install all motherboard related drivers from manufacturer after a fresh install, will save you much stress and worry if things start to behave erratically or don't work at all.

Hope this helps, along with Bucknutty's clear comments above. 🙂

Do u know that old phrase "If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It " : )
