Do I need to overclock?

I have a Q660 at stock, and a gtx 650 Ti (2GB Windforce). I can get max settings on most games (1680x1050) but in some I get low fps.(Splinter Cell Blacklist to be specific).I think it's a cpu issue, will overclocking help? Windows 8 Pro, get 50c temp at idles, but in Australian Summer, so that is probably affecting it.

That was quick, first time OC'ing a cpu, I can get 90c at load though,running a cheap aftermarket after I broke the stock cooler putting in my cpu. I think the card is dispersing onto the cpu. And this may sound dumb, but how do I safely Oc? I have a GA-965P-DS4 if it helps

There was an issue when installing, as the thermal paste wouldn't contact the cpu. I had to smother it on to get it working. And what is a "Plantform upgrade? (Platform maybe?)

I was thinking of geting a new MB/Cpu, like an i5, but it would mean getting new RAM as well (as I have ddr2). It's a huge price point,

Thanks, but parts are expensive over here. just the RAM/MB is $210. Hitting AU on the site didn't give me the cpu though

well the thign is it will give you a lot more future headroom so i would say it is worth it
