Do I need to re-apply thermal compound when changing my motherboard?

So I want to change my motherboard but the thing is that the processor which is installed on it is using a stock CPU cooler which already had thermal compound applied on it. So if I were to change my motherboard would I have to buy thermal compound remover to remove the existing compound and then also buy my own thermal compound and reapply it? Or can I simply just place the processor and cooler with the compound it already has in the new motherboard. I originally installed the processor and cooler a month and a half ago. Thanks in advice for any help.

Dear in this case, you'll have to remove the existing thermal compound and re-apply it when installing again on new mobo. Though my personal experience is different but I won't recommend it. Just stick with the basics and the requirements and you would do it.

I read alcohol is good at removing thermal paste 70 or 90 , but yes you will need to reapply it. Dont get cheap thermal paste though, I think Arctic silver is good thermal paste.

If you're able to remove the CPU/Heat Sink from the motherboard without separating the Heat Sink from the CPU, you should be ok. However, if you even pull on the heat sink without pulling on the CPU as well, you could create an air pocket between the two which could cause your CPU to over heat and shut down.

In my opinion, whenever you're working with the CPU, you should always clean the CPU and Heat Sink with isopropyl alcohol and then re-apply new thermal compound.

Yes, you have read it correctly. Arctic Silver is nice option.
