So, I got myself the ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-A GAMING WIFI D4 , but now instead want to replace it with a ASUS PRIME Z690-P WIFI D4 .

And at the same time, I now have the Intel Core i7 12700KF 3.6 GHz 25MB, going to replace with the Intel Core i9-12900K 3,2GHz 30MB.

Now the 100 dollar question, do I really need to reinstall Windows? Since the hardware is quite similar is it possible to just hand over the M.2 SSD with Windows to the new MB and crank it up?

Motherboards are very similar. Might be possible to avoid reinstall.
Make sure sata controller mode and boot mode settings in BIOS are the same.
You'll probably have to reinstall chipset, graphics, audio, wifi, lan drivers.

Anyway - why are you replacing motherboard?

Neat, lets hope

Nah, its about a deal I came across on the CPU and MOBO combined, however it was just before Black Friday and now a company came with ALOT better deal with the i9 and "just little" worse MOBO and a watercooler and RAM included for only about 100 dollar more, only the i7 vs i9 itself races out the difference in price

Just wait. You will most like find something wrong you can’t fix as you use it more. Expect problems usually
