First Im sorry if i posted this in the wrong place but I wanted to ask about Air coolers for Am4

I have a Cooler master Hyper 212 LED and i bought a Noctua NH-D15 SE AM4 but i wanted to know if i need to take the motherboard out of the case or not

AS i understand i dont need to remove it from the Case , because Am4 have those 2 handles that i only need to remove the ones it has for the ones Noctua comes with ,but i wanted to make sure in case i need to remove the motherboard from the case

Thank you :)

That depends on a case not MB or cooler. Most have a sizable hole in the back of MB to remove/change cooler back plate. If hole is not there you must remove MB to install it. Looking at manual: https://noctua.at/media/blfa_files/manual/noctua_nh_d15_se_am4_manual_en.pdf it looks like it can be installed without removing/replacing cooler back plate, just need to take out 4 screws holding standard AM4 cooler and those plastic holders and install cooler itself.
Only things I don't know is how CM 212 was installed and if it's backplate was used or if it was glued to MB.
PS.
Now I see that CM 212 uses stock AM4 retainers on standard AM4 backplate so you should be able to change cooler without taking MB out. As I still don't know if backplate is glued to back of MB you may want to open back o the case and see if you have to hold backplate from falling off.

In most modern builds, you can mount coolers without taking out the whole MB. You may just need an extra set of hands to make it a bit easier. If you are working by yourself, you could remove the MB and it would be easier to get a nice even mount and thermal paste spread, but it is a pain in the neck and it takes longer. It just depends how comfortable you are working on your build and it depends on how easy it is to mount your cooler (I've never used that model cooler before some I'm unfamiliar with how it mounts)

yes. even if you have a cutout that lets you keep it mounted while messing with the backplate.

you want to install it on a flat level surface to ensure you get an even mounting pressure, with tower coolers.
you cant do that if you leave the motherboard mounted in the case, unless your willing to tip turn, and rotate the whole pc to work on it.

Thanks for all the answers im going to try and do it with the case laying flat on a bed or something soft so it doest scrash the back panel :)
I kinda thought that would be the response but i didnt want to do something that might not work and i ll have to take the mother board out :)
