Do I need to uninstall my old gtx 660 drivers when I put in my msi 7950?

Hello guys just wanted to ask, I have a 660 in my dell xps8700 my 7950 is coming tomarrow and I was wandering do I need to uninstall my geforce drivers when before I take the 660 out and put in the new 7950? Thank you

you should always uninstall the drivers for a device you're not using anymore. uninstall the old card through the device manager, then boot it uo with the new card and install its drivers from the disk.

this will prevent all kinds of issues that can pop up if you don't. especially since you're moving from nvidia to amd

Thanks, i still had a bit of difficulty with getting AMD to work properly but atleast i can play my games at higher FPS, How ever in my display adapter its says 7900 series instead of 7950, is this going to be a problem ?

not a problem at all. my 270/270x cards show as r9-200 series.

the 7950 is similar to the other 79** cards except for clock speed and other options. kind of like the 30 different ford mustang models. they are all mustangs and identified as such but the options will change which model it is (lx, gt, cobra, .......) same goes for gpu's. the chip is the same but the options determine what "model" it is. windows simply stops with identifying the gpu not the options.
