Do I need to update my BIOS to run an FX-6300?

I want to upgrade from my old x3 455 to an fx 6300 on an MSI 760GM-P21 (FX) motherboard, and after reading some things on forums I found some motherboards need a bios update in order to function with some CPU's. This got me quite concerned, and I really need to know if I need a BIOS update or if it will work without it.

Yes. Newer BIOSs don't remove support for older CPU's.

CPU-Z says it's version 17.3. How do I know if that is an HB version or not. Also, if I update my BIOS now, can I still use my x3 455?

Where did you come up with 17.3? Was the board I linked to above your board?

The board you listed is the right one

I might've clicked the wrong tab, idk.

I downloaded the BIOS for the fx-6300 and in a .txt file it says version 17.11, so I guess I have to update it. Also, if I update it, will my x3 455 work on the new bios?
