Do I need to update my bios?

Hello I am build a gaming pc and I was wondering if I need to update my bios to use the cpu. My motherboard is the ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 and my cpu is the AMD FX 8320.

Can someone please help me.

According to the ASRock site, all Bios' for this motherboard support this processor, your AMD FX8320. Therefore, you would not be required to update the Bios to get that processor working on that motherboard.

oh ok because when i start my computer up, i get no beeps, no picture but the fans do start and the hard drive boots. I have tried taking out the cos battery, one stick of ram, no sticks of ram, unplugging the hard drive, reconnecting the wires and plugging them in again. I have done everything. If you could think of some thing that i have no done could you please tell me.

I tried all of that and still nothing, so i am going to take it down to my computer store that i got all the parts from. They said i need to update the bios and they said they can do the for free, but the motherboard is dead they said they will give me another one or a money refund.

Good luck on getting the motherboard going. Yes, have them update it, and refund you if it does not work.
