Do I need to update my HD204UI?

Do i have to update the firmware on my HD204UI? I know there is a bug about native command queuing, but they have known about that for awhile, and i just bought my hard drive recently. Do they ship hard drives with updated firmware?

I'm having a hard time trying to find a way to put the update file on the dos CD. I make a DOS cd, but it's a CD-R so after i burn DOS, then i cant put the updater on it -.- ... tried to use magiciso to put the file in the dos iso im using, which got mixed results(winrar and magiciso said the file was on the cd, windows explorer said it wasn't, and cant see it in DOS.

Id rather not use USB, as i couldnt figure out how to make it work, or maybe my computer doesnt support it. It does have an "other device" option in BIOS though. but hopefully theres a way to make the CD work...

It would be good if they shipped it with the firmware already on it so I could just forget about this.

if it was manufactured before march 2010 it needs the update!!!!!!

Well, pretty much the same for me when I bought this drive.. But that doesnt mean it's with the new fw, as the stores may had them unsold before that date with old fw. Aida64 help to check fw.

The manufacture date is usualy written on the drive.
