Do I need to update the BIOS?

It is on sale for £100 less. I also am buying a Ryzen 5 2600X CPU, would I need to update the BIOS on the motherboard or not? Will my Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3000 MHz RAM work?

This seems like a lot of hassle just for this. I will be receiving the Motherboard on Christmas and I have never built a system before. Any suggestions on what to do?

Either change the CPU to a first gen Ryzen (price on the 1700X is really good atm) or change the motherboard to one that will natively support a second gen Ryzen (B450/X470).

Will the Asus Prime X470-PRO Motherboard support a 2600X? Will I need to flash the BIOS on this mobo?

Nope, it will support that CPU without a BIOS update.
