Hello everyone,

I have this PC I built in 2012. It has a 2nd generation i5-2320 processor. I just got into architecture this year, and so I'll be soon working with softwares like cad, revit, 3ds max etc. I am also buying a new graphics card gtx 750ti (the integrated graphics was enough for me till now). But some people are saying that before a new graphics card, I need a new processor.. Is that true? Will the i5-2320 bottleneck the graphics card or the programs I'll be working on?
Is it really necessary to have the latest gen cpu? because I have seen some people too referring to that lineup of cpu as 'old but gold' cpu-s.

Solution
2nd gen i5 is still plenty fast, not near enough of an improvement to justify the $300-400 cost to upgrade CPU and motherboard.

A 2nd gen i3 would not even bottleneck the 750ti, you are completely fine.
Until you go to a GTX 980 your i5 will give you no problems

we have several architecture programs (autocad, etc) still running extremely well on am Intel i5-2500. I'm sure you will be fine. Check your RAM and make sure you have 8GB minimum and maybe as much as 16. We're running fine on 8, Machine is on Windows 7 Professional.

Thanks. Can you tell what graphics card do you use?

I believe AMD Radeon HD 7770. So older, low-end.

Ehh, in my book Broadwell practically doesn't count since it's only mobile processors.
