Do i need to upgrade my desktop pc or will a new gpu do

so basically i already know my gpu is is getting old and fast, i want to goto a 4k setup. if i was to get the latest 4k supported gpu such as the gtx 980 would i have to upgrade anything else on my pc.

If you want to game in 4k, you will need to get a new gpu. I would advice getting a evga gtx 970 sc for the best performance.
