Good day to all, I need your opinion if do I still need to upgrade or buy a newer motherboard for my computer? I'm using Asus Vanguard B85 right now. If yes, what motherboard would be the best choice for my computer? This is my current specs of my computer.

Intel Core i5 4590 3.3ghz
ASUS Vanguard B85 TUF Series
8gb G.Skill Ripjaws 4gbx2 1866mhz
Palit GTX 960 Jetstream 2gb GDDR5 128bit
HEC Cougar True Rated CMX 700w PSU 80+ Bronze
SSD Intel 80gb 320 Series
HDD 500gb Seagate

Sorry if i ask noobish question, I'm still new to computer world. Thanks! :bounce:

As I said, the only reason to upgrade the motherboard is to gain SLI support. I've not seen any H81, B85, H87, or H97 motherboards with SLI support. Only Z87 and Z97 motherboards have it. If you have a case which can support a standard ATX motherboard, then this is a nice upgrade.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Also keep in mind that if you have an OEM Windows license, then you will need to buy a new Windows license when upgrading since an OEM license cannot be transferred to the new motherboard. Think about this before you take the plunge.

to nearly everyone, Mobo's these days (on the intel side at least) all perform the same to within a percentage point, so what's the point in upgrading? There will be NO performance again, all you will gain are features like USB3.0, SLI, multiplier overclocking, additional slots. But that's all, nothing else.

Thank you to all who replied my thread. The reason why I ask if do I need to upgrade my motherboard is because one of my friend told me that my current motherboard is old and doesn't perform well to newer parts such as my gtx 960 and my core i5 processor, she said that it may bottleneck my videocard and the processor.
