Do I need to upgrade

So I currently have a 4670k. I plan on recording and releasing some video's to youtube so i'll be rendering video's a bit. I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading my cpu to a 4790k.

i5-4670k
MSI r9 290x gaming
8gb ram
750w psu

Yes,it is worth it.It is gonna be faster than the 4670K when editing and rendering.

It won't slow down the game.It will maybe recude FPS by 5,worst case scenario 10,but it's gonna play the game smooth.While recording ofc. 😉

new games and diablo 3 mostly. I want to try and get highest graphics settings possible as well. if it's not that much of a hit i might not do it.

I wouldn't upgrade for games like diablo 3 because your cpu is more than enough.

i plan on recording newer games with a mate of mine. some far cry 4, some ac: unity, some cod. mostly newer games. so i'm thinking the extra threads will a: help with the frame rate of newer games while recording and b: render faster

I found that COD GHOSTS Played better when upgrading to 4790k from a 3570k.

I also overclocked my 4790k to 4.6 on all cores and cache...

Far Cry 4 and AC should benefit from the extra threads, extra cache and higher frequency...

Go for it and get a decent cooler and overclock your processor to 4.6 or 4.7.
