Do I really need a hard drive caddy/adaptor to use the optical bay of laptop for 2nd hard drive?

Can't I just hot glue it on the inside or something then connect it directly to the SATA cable? (Hard drive and DVD drive both have the same SATA connector)

Aesthetics doesn't really matter.

Thanks in advance for answering!

Probably a bad idea. Just pay for the caddy, glue and stuff inside your system probably isnt that great of an idea and a huge gaping hole in your laptop also isnt

Still thinking about it after 6 months?

Hot glue probly not a good adhesive for something that gets warm and the hot glue can lose grip on it, and the thing starts to slide. Epoxy maybe. I for one don't care, as long as you are happy with it. Bottom line: as long as the thing don't start sliding, nobody cares, certainly not the laptop, it will function normally.
