Hello guy , I am thinking of buying HYPERX CLOUD CORE. But my motherboard is old.Its foxconn g41-md(lga 775).
I bought this in year 2009. So my question is will my mobo be able to power this headphone or do i require an external sound card.I am on a very tight budget.
I am using realtek sound drivers and 32 bit O.S. (i know it is capable of 64 bit but purpously i am using 32 bit)

Thankyou in advance guys for you valuable feedback

From some quick research the impedance appears to be around 60 ohms for your headphones.

Your motherboard has a realtek audio solution with an impedance of probably 20 ohms.

You can try but if that is it, it probably won't have enough power to drive them.

Nothing bad will happen by trying, other than no sound comes out, then you would know you would need a sound card.

Foxconn site for what your motherboard showing a 5.1 realtek codec.

A 5.1 ac97 codec by realtek that appears to be the one inside your motherboard.

I couldn't find anywhere saying it was it, but it is the only ac97 codec that is 6 channel or 5.1.

I also have a hyperx cloud core headset first i used it with my onboard ALC887 which provides an impedance of 32 ohms to my headphones but i didnt sounded loud So i bought a usb amp asus xonar u3 and put my hyperx cloud core on them then the headphones were louder than the onboard audio and it sounded good.So for more louder sound you might need to buy a soundcard.

I usually play cs go a lot.(and 1.6 too) . So will i get positional audio correctly?
And if sound card is really necessary plz suggest me a cheap sound card..that will do the job..
I am on a very tight budget 🙁
Thankyou.

Don't get hung up on virtual surround sound, in my view its largely a marketing gimmick. At best the directional accuracy is vague. Having used a proper 7.1 surround sound setup there is no headset I have found that comes remotely close. I currently have Tiamat 7.1 headphones which have 10 individual speakers driven off a ASUS Pheobus soundcard and this setup is supposed to be one of the better surround sound headphone setups yet the positional sound is still very vague at best. I have tried many software virtual surround sound headsets and they have all been a complete joke, you don't get any real positional sound and the sound quality suffers massively from the synthetized surround sound mixing.

i am from india too.I bought an asus xonar u3 its good. But it priced increased.Sound card prices are much higher in india 🙁.But you can buy cloud core 2 if you add the price of sound card it comes with its own sound card so you do not need to worry about it and it comes with better mic that cloud core too.If you dont care about dolby stuff you could buy a dac too. http://mdcomputers.in/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=2139 asus xonar u3

Specs wise creative one is better.

Thanx for your support guys.
But i mean my budget for headphone was 3.8 or max 4k.
The only reason why i want to buy a sound card is to give enough power for my headphone to work.I was thinkng of buying a real cheap sound card because Cloud core requires 60 ohms impedemce

Whats your budget for sound card and if you want to get Creative Sound Blaster Audigy fx in india you might to go search for stores in your area or import from other country cause its hard to find one all are out of stock here and they cost rs 4000 minimum.
