You'll need to leave your current CPU on the board, update the BIOS, and then install the new CPU and remember to look at all the voltages, I've heard of some Z87 boards setting the core voltage ridiculously high for Haswell refresh chips.
ASUS suggest BIOS version 1003 to use that CPU. Make sure you check the voltages in BIOS prior to booting into Windows though even if you do update the BIOS.
