Do I understand this linus video about Gsync vs Freesync Input lagg video or not?

Solution
Please someone explain 😀 Its about making the right decsision if buy AMD R9 390 8GB with freesync 1080p 144hz 1ms TN monitor coming out soon or GTX 970 With same monitor but its g sync not freesync...

I'm not entirely sure about that but look at what the following comment has to say:

If you want to see a DRAMATIC reduction in input lag, cap the FPS to around 135 in game ideally or with external gpu software. This was figured out a while ago (by folks over at blurbusters) when G-sync first became available. There is an issue with running games at around 140-144 fps or higher on 144 hz, but once capped to around 135-138 fps, there is virtually no input lag, same as normal non-gsync 1ms monitors without V-sync enabled. If you have a g-sync monitor and cs:go, you should never be playing without fps_max between 135 and 138. The difference is night and day: it's the same difference as playing on a normal monitor with v-sync on vs v-sync off, which as you probably already know, not a single pro player plays with v-sync on because it's horrible.

I read this comment but im not sure about it :/

by the very design of the two systems I suppose it's possible freesync will have less imput lag. though i doubt a human being could detect it. and the way those techs are supposed to work you aren't supposed to use vsync as well; as vsync has the most input lag of any option..

But what would be in case I use 144HZ with 144+FPS without Freesync or Gsync with vsync also turned off,Would I get even lesser input lagg?Or is that the point of Freesync and gsync to reduce input lagg also with screen tearing?or its only the point of it to get rid off screen tearing?

no, the ranking from the least input lag to most is

NO VSYNC
Freesync
Gsync

VSYNC

i put spaces inbetween vsync and the rest because it actually can cause observable input lag. as for screen tearing, you'd need a system capable of getting over 144fps in 1080p before that's even a consideration.

Solution

I would get R9 390 8GB seems like to be a new king of GPU for the money. So 144FPS+ wouldn't be a problem I would just have to lower the settings I guess. So Freesync without V sync is the best for input lagg as for screen tearing at 144hz and 144+FPS.Thanks :)

I don't know It should be possible on low settings or on medium settings.thats strange...

if you look at this benchmark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plWeCqnNXoE and see the settings he chosed and fps in one of the most demanding games ever you will probably get more fps in competitive games which are not very demanding graphicaly like shooter games when lowering settings it must be possible... I have Gtx 260 And on lowest settings I play GTA 5 on dx 10 with 70-90fps

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYylwo6V1Tw Battlefield 4 on ultra 73FPS setting it to medium would probably do it. Cod Advanced warfare 1080p maxsettings 112 fps easy getting 144+ when lower settings.Well it must be possible.I don't need 144+FPS on 144HZ at 1080p monitor in not competitive games.I'm OK with 45-75 FPS in not competitive games.
