I'm aware that manufacturers sometimes disable defective parts of a processor and then sell them as a sub-category CPU, so I was wondering if that is what Intel does with their "F" chips. Disable the iGPU and sell the processor as an ix-9xxxF, maybe?

Yes, Intel's -f or -kf skew CPUs have an igpu that has been disabled.

This is unlike AMD Ryzen (excluding -g skew) since Ryzen has no igpu at all.
Thanks for that added info about AMD. I often wondered the same about those. But kinda thought that since the G series came later, the disabled iGPU situation wasn't as likely.
