Do Intel SSD DC S3700 need Serial ATA Connector controller to run?

Intel SSD DC S3700 has Serial ATA Connector. Does it mean it can connect any new motherboard Sata 3. I want to connect "Intel SSD DC S3700" to SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0. I need to know before i buy both.

Serial ATA is the same as SATA. the old PATA(parallel ATA is all but dead now, most users just called it ATA at the time)
